Pushing Through by Determination

James 1:12

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised in those who love him.

Our focus this week has been on DETERMINATION.  The question that is a constant in my mind , can I have a made up mind that regardless of what I am faced with or what I am doing. Can I move to the place of being determined? Can overcome any obstacle or challenge that comes my way? The answer to that is yes. It is a strong  possibility that through faith and determination you and I can overcome  anything. 

James gives us some insight on being determined. This first thing I see that James says we must look at:

The Posture of the Believer: James calls this person blessed because  he/she pushes through. He/she perseveres. When you persevere you go pass and push through everything that attempts to stop you from getting  where you are supposed to be. James tells us that we are blessed. But James talks also talks about  the:

The Place of the Believer: James says when you stand firm, when you have stood the test. It is a beautiful place to be in. Being determined affords you the opportunity to be successful.  James identifies being determined as passing the test. Are you willing to pass the test by simply being determined.  Finally James tells us that  there is something even bigger by operating in determination.  James says that there is a:

Prize for the Believer: James reminds us that you will receive a crown of life, the the Lord has promised to those who love him. That is great news. I don't have to wait until I get to heaven to receive  my crown. I can have a crown, a crown of life right now. While I live God endorses my life because I was determined to hang in there and push pass every  obstacle that came my way.

God wants you and I to have the spirit of determination.  Don't  allow anyone or anything to stop you from gaining your crown. Life is better when  there is a sense of determination always playing that vital  role. Keep believing that God has the power to take you through it, let Him.

The Importance of Determination

1 Corinthians 16:13

Be on your guard, stand firm in your faith,  be courageous: be strong. 

Being determined is crucial in the time and season we are living in. In other words you have got to have a made up mind that you are not going to stop but you are going to remain focused and driven to reach ALL desired goals. Don't  let anything stop you in this season of your life. Purpose is important to maintain.  We all have some sort of purpose in our  lives and we must pursue after it. It will take determination. 

Paul here in 1 Corinthians 16:13 gives us instructions on how we can be determined. The first thing I see is Paul invites  us to:

Protect your Intrest:

Be on your guard. If you are going to be determined, you must protect that which you have a vested interest in. Don't  let anyone come in and make attempts at destroying what you are building.

Secondly  Paul tells us if are going to be determined we must:

Provide Inspiration 

Paul reminds that we must stand firm in our faith. There must be spiritual inspiration. Now faith is the substance of things hope for the evidence of things not seen. There must be a level of inspiration that affords us the opportunity to be determined that what we are faced with. By the help of our faith, it inspires us to be determined. 

Finally Paul gives  us another key to help us to be determined.  Paul says we must:

Promote Imagination 

Paul strongly persuades us to be courageous and to be strong.  Yes, determination takes imagination. Take courage in knowing that all of your dreams and ideas will come to pass. It is important to have a determination attitude. Determination will take being strong. This is not the time to be weak and fragile. Be strong.

Today make up in your mind that you are going to be determined to finish the course, that you will finish the race, that you will be all that you can be. Be focused driven and watch what you put your hands to do will come to pass.
