It is all about LOVE Part 3

1 Corinthians 13:3

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give me body to be burned, and have not charity,  it profiteth me nothing.

When I think about investing, I think about getting a return on my investment.  I think about winning. I think about growth and progress. The interesting thing is I don't have to have a love emotion but an attitude for success. 

Here in this 1 Corinthians 13:3 verse Paul reminds us that if we invest into feeding the poor or even if you decide to sacrifice your body to be burned and you don't apply the investment of (charity). It means absolutely nothing. There is no return. Once again it is important that everything we do we do by the operation of love. It is so easy to make good Samaritan moves but if you don't do it in love it means nothing.

Things will happen in both your life and in my life. Things will take place in your life that will cause an emotional set back. Our behavior must be the behavior of a person that is walking with God. The love of God will keep us. Continue to allow God to order your steps and make sure that you pursue love. Love is a wonderful place to be in.

It is all about LOVE Part 2

1 Corinthians 13:2

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I can move mountains and have not charity,  I am nothing.

I read this verse over and over again. I was trying to understand why Paul would write such a verse. After all if I am operating in the gift of prophecy, and I understand all mysteries, and all knowledge,  and I have the faith that I can move mountains. Paul says if I do all that and don't have love I am nothing. 

How can you do all of those wonderful spiritual things and not have the love of God inside of you in operation? How could one be so rooted and grounded in scripture and still not operate in love? I honestly cannot answer that. What I do know it comes out of PRIDE. Don't ever be in a place where pride or your gift is being presented instead of the love of God.

Whatever you do, whether it be doing the things of God or just living your life. Please don't be associated with being nothing.  Paul says that when you operate in the things of God and you don't do it in love, you are classified as nothing. I never want to be associated with being identified as a NOTHING.  Whatever you do, make sure you do it in love.

It is all about LOVE!! Part 1

I Corinthians 13:1

Though I speak with men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal.

It is a matter of love. Love matters. Love is the emotion of unconditional partiality, which is core to Christianity. Because God so loved the world (John 3:16) we know love is also undeserving and often unreciprocated. As believers we must be careful that we don't model our love after the world, but Christ. 

1 Corinthians 13:1, Paul opens up this chapter by putting emphasis on how we speak as it relates to love. Paul reminds us that our communication whether it be of men, the language you and I speak on a daily basis or of angels, the things of God or the Word of God. Paul says if we don't do it in charity (love) we become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal. In other words Paul is identifying us as pieces of band. Sounding brass and tinkling cymbals are pieces of or musical instruments that make a noise. Are you making a whole lot of noise?

Paul suggests that it is not a good sound, when we don't speak in love. The question I want to raise to you as a believer. Are you speaking in love? Are your words offensive? Do you pay attention to the words that come out of your mouth? My Christian friend, I challenge you today to make sure that you season your words with love. Be mindful, that it is easy for people to take offense when words don't come out exactly like we want them. If we speak with love, that is the God kind of love (Agape) we can never go wrong.

God is love and love is of God. Watch how you speak.
